I am the owner and presenter of Stars Northwest, my name is Rod Roberts.

I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Science

and Mathematics Education and then attended Syracuse University for my

Master's in Instructional Technology. I have taught mathematics at Grandview

High School for the last twenty years and also taught mathematics and computer

science at Yakima Valley Community College for over eleven years. I've been

a star gazer since junior high days back in Illinois.

Inside the Starlab, I blend a mixture of astronomy with history, mathematics,

and modern presentation technology into an exciting experience for children

and adults alike. The Starlab is a fantastic invention, it enables someone like

me to bring the astronomical wonders of the universe back to kids who may

never have a chance to go to the city and see a professional planetarium show.

In all the years I went to school, I only saw one planetarium show in Chicago

on a class trip. Later as an adult in my 30's and 40's, I saw two more. Now, I

sometimes set up my Starlab and just look at the night sky and dream.

My other interests include photography, golf, computers, and fishing.
